Pretoria
The capital of South Africa, Pretoria, is situated 48 kilometers from Johannesburg and the two cities are “growing” together rapidly forming one of the largest urban areas in Africa. Pretoria is filled with relics from South Africa’s history as for example the Voortrekker Monument and President Kruger’s home in Church Street.
The Old Museum has an excellent exhibition of traditional African art. The seat of Government, The Union Buildings, was build by the famous architect of the British Empire, Sir Herbert Baker. The peaceful atmosphere of the town is emphasised by the boulevards with the beautiful jacaranda trees with their bleu flowers.
